A Cirencester school has been praised by Ofsted following a recent inspection.
Cirencester Primary has been rated as 'Good', the school inspectors' second highest rating, matching their last grade from 2015.
The latest Ofsted report says the Victoria Road school is 'a friendly and inclusive place to learn', with reading at the centre of the curriculum.
It states: "Staff immerse them in stories and language to develop their speaking and listening skills.
"Staff expertly match pupils’ reading books to the sounds they are learning.
"This helps them to develop pupils’ confidence and reading fluency."
The report also says that leaders have raised expectations of pupils’ learning and behaviour, and that the arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
Under areas to improve the report said: "Leaders need to secure the use of assessment, so they know how well pupils learn and remember the intended curriculum."
Headteacher Wendy Foster said: “This is a report we are hugely proud of. I want to thank our staff, governors, pupils, parents and everyone else who has worked so hard to achieve the school’s strengths recognised by Ofsted.
"Our pupils are our greatest ambassadors; they always rise to a challenge, work incredibly hard and want the best for themselves and their friends.”
Francis Reardon, the school’s chair of Governors, said: “It was very pleasing to see Ofsted recognise the hard work that the school has done designing an ambitious curriculum that gives our pupils a range of opportunities and experiences to prepare them for life after school.”

Mikey Ezewudo, parent and governor, said: “The inspection result came as no surprise to me but a confirmation of what I witness at home and within the school.
"The first thing I noticed from my initial parental visit to the school was ‘how well staff encourage pupils to celebrate diversity and value uniqueness.’
"I am thrilled that Ofsted recognised this alongside our values based education.
"Combining fundamental British values and our school values, we teach pupils the importance of respecting everyone, regardless of difference.
"Our school offers equal opportunity for all pupils to excel to greater height, regardless of background. I am truly pleased.”
