Our readers have nominated the top 10 takeaways in Cirencester, Tetbury, Malmesbury and the surrounding areas, and for the next week we’ll be profiling each of them so you can choose the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard Best Takeaway 2021.
The third venue we’re showcasing is Jacks on Black Jack Street, where manager Laura Stringer and her team have been making their meals takeaway friendly to beat lockdown restrictions on business.
“We’ve always done takeaway but we’ve got a lot more options than we did before,” said Laura, who has worked at Jacks for seven years.
She said that once Jacks opens again, they will continue to run a full takeaway menu due to its success – particularly their burgers.
Laura said that opening and closing repeatedly over the last year in line with Covid restrictions has been a challenge for Jacks, which has three chefs and 12 front of house staff.
“We’re having to be quite fluid with what we’re doing and quite flexible, changing things month to month depending on what the guidelines were,” she said.
Asked how she felt after making the top 10 takeaways, Laura said: “It’s amazing, it’s really nice because it’s been hard work for the last year and we have had to make a lot of changes and the staff have done really well so it means a lot for that to be appreciated.
“It would mean so much to win, It would be nice to give a well done to the staff and to show that they’re appreciated.”
If you think Jacks should be crowned the best takeaway in the Cotswolds and North Wiltshire, you can vote for them using the voting coupon in this week’s paper (Thursday, April 8) or next week's (Thursday, April 15).
