THANK you to the Standard’s letter section for awakening my curiosity in learning – particularly those of Mr Hunt (July 27) and Mr Adams (July 20) – both of whom eloquently put their differing cases forward with aplomb.

Having travelled extensively as many of your readers have done, it is refreshing to read good debate being allowed in a free press.

I have to say Mr Adams letter of July 20 has reignited my interest in the factual world around us. It is hard and I feel futile to argue with facts and this has encouraged me to enrol on a science and astronomy course. As Buzz Aldrin said in 1972: “The moon is not a piece of cheese it’s real.”
