THE British Red Cross Society Gloucestershire Branch pictured as winners of all the county trophies back in 1939.
The ranks in amongst the Voluntary Aid Detachment range from privates, corporals and commandants.
12 men in total, the junior team featured Private.E.S.Cook, Private.H.F. Burton, Private.E.F. March (captain), Private.S.G.Smith, Private.C.H.Robinson, while Private.H.G.Moss was a reserve.
The senior team was made up of Corporal. G.A.Hutchings, Commandant.G.Walker as captain, Corporal.H.P.Ball, Corporal.W.L.Ellyatt and Private.B.W.Freeth, while Private.B.W.Hobbs as a reserve.
The picture was taken by Cirencester’s W. Dennis Moss, a prolific photographer who captured local military activity.
