ON JUNE 28 1969, two sisters, Jean and Shirley Holland, were married in a joint ceremony at St Andrew’s Church in Chedworth.

The brides were the daughters of the late Mrs G Holland and Mr Frank Holland of the Hemplands Estate, Chedworth.

Jean’s bridegroom was Mr Colin Moulden from Quenington and Shirley’s bridegroom was Mr Edward Holden from Bibury. 

The brides, who were given away by their father, wore full-length dresses of ripple satin, empire line with detachable trains and short veils held in place with headdresses of white flowers.

Jean’s dress was trimmed with white lace and Shirley’s with pink lace.

Jean carried white roses and white bridal gladioli and Shirley carried white roses and pink bridal gladioli.

Their bridesmaids included their other sisters, Frances and Marian.

Their headdresses were of pink rose buds.

After a reception for 80 guests at Chedworth village hall, the two couples left for their honeymoons, Colin and Jean touring and Shirley and Edward in London. 

To go away, Jean wore a cream coat-dress with black patent and cream accessories and Shirley wore a blue and white long sleeved dress with navy blue accessories.

Colin and Jean will make their home in Dyer Street, Cirencester and Edward and Shirley in Stratton.
