FORMER Stow RFC player Elliott Stooke has signed for Bath and moves from Premiership rivals Gloucester ahead of the 2016-17 season.

The 22-year-old man mountain - 6ft 6in tall and weighing in at about 18stone – was named in the England Saxons squad in 2014 and has made almost 70 appearances for Gloucester.

“Elliott is a big, strong lad, and we’re looking forward to seeing him continue his development with us,” said Bath head coach Mike Ford. “He has a great skill-set for a young player and a great attitude.”

The length of Worcester-born Stooke’s contract with Bath has not been disclosed.

He has found himself behind Jeremy Thrush, Mariano Galarza and Tom Savage in the second row pecking order at Gloucester since his breakthrough at Kingsholm.

But it is not likely to be much easier at Bath with Dave Attwood, Luke Charteris, Tom Ellis, Charlie Ewels and Matt Garvey all fighting for places.
