We enjoyed that as an exercise much more than the Cheltenham Town game.

We wanted to make sure they didn’t score which was achieved and we got plenty of touches and played some football. They all got an hour on the pitch and it is all part of the process of building up fitness.

We started by playing Reidy in the hole behind the two strikers (Stone and Bevan) as that was a system that seemed to stop Cheltenham from playing the other day.

We lacked a bit of width at times and there was a lack of sharpness which was understandable. Jody Bevan missed the Cheltenham game due to a wedding and has been carrying a knock, but he got his goal.

We had a look at Josh Parsons, who was released by Swindon Town last season, and he scored one and made one. Obviously, he would like to be involved against his old club for us on Monday, but he also played for Shrivenham last Thursday.

We played Hereford lad Will Loughman in both the centre of midfield and at right back for 30-minute spells and he did okay in both positions. And I understand that when he turned out for Gloucester City in pre-season it was as a striker.

With a lot of these players the decision on whether you sign them or not is taken out of your hands.

Andy Gunn has come in at the centre of defence and has looked solid. We are obviously benefiting for the two weeks full time training he did recently with Dundee before they decided not to offer him a contract.

Ben Reardon is carrying a knee injury and there was no reason to risk him but Dunny (sports therapist) thinks he has it under control.

Eggy was away on a coaching course.
