WEPL’s Premier Division

Frocester lost for the fifth time in a row, succumbing to a seven wicket reverse at Bridgwater.

Thornbury, the Premier Two Glos/Wilts leaders, breezed past Cheltenham by seven wickets, Jack Worgan capturing  5-20 from 10, while Dumbleton lost ground with a 24-run home defeat against Corsham despite Tom Kelly’s 123 off 94 (19 fours, one six).

Hatherley & Reddings were 97-run victors at Royal Wootton Bassett, CP Rizwaan top scoring on 102 from 75 (seven fours, seven sixes) and Tom Hage claiming 4-47, but Painswick were edged out by six wickets at home to Goatacre.

Chipping Sodbury are up to third following a 27-run victory at Rockhampton, Tom Stevens took 3-8 from ten and followed up with an unbeaten 49 in promoted Langford’s six wicket win at Bourton Vale, and Stroud dispatched Frocester 2nds by 158 runs.

Knowle, the leaders of Bristol & North Somerset, made it six from six with a 151-run defeat of Bristol 2nds, Mark Coombes top scoring on 90 while promoted OB Westbury remain second following a 58-run home victory against Bradley Stoke.

There was a quick finish at Tetbury who skittled Rockhampton 2nds for 34, James Job bagging 6-13 ahead of romping in by nine wickets.

Bowling performance of the weekend came in Division One where Alex Foulner grabbed 7-19 from nine for Thornbury 2nds, but still finished on the losing side as Chipping Campden held their nerve for a one-run victory, Mark Trueman capturing 4-39.

Anthony James, meanwhile, finished unbeaten on 106 for Aston Ingham in their total of 223-7 away to Lydney who timed their reply to perfection, completing a three-wicket triumph with a ball to spare.

It was a good day too for Down Hatherley captain Shane Trigg who reached 114 off 113 (20 fours) to inspire a 91-run home triumph against Parkend in Division Five where Cirencester 2nds opener Andy Baxter was bowled for 98 in a 16-run reverse away to Minchinhampton who sealed their first win of the season.

Leaders Whitminster made it six from six with a five-wicket success away to Sheepscombe, Jake Clack hitting the timbers all five times to finish with excellent figures of 5-20 from eight.

In Division Six, Gavin Dean’s burst of 5-5 from 4.4 saw Tormarton skittled for 38 ahead of King’s Stanley romping to a ten-wicket victory.

And skipper Brooke Turner led from the front with 101 for Upton St Leonards who went on to trump Winchcombe by 65 runs, Jamie Roberts claiming 4-14 from 6.3 overs.

Nathan Fagg (4-14 from eight) and Ollie Moore (3-12 from six) combined to dismiss Oaksey for 135 in Division Seven ahead of Painswick 2nds completing a five-wicket triumph.
