A Gloucestershire youth football team won every single game of their league season, despite the disruption caused by Covid.

Cirencester Town Under 15s team won all 16 of their matches in the North Wilts League Division 1.

It was the first time a Cirencester Town team have won the league at this age group, and also the only under 15 team to win all their matches in a season since the league was formed twenty years ago.

Coach Tony Warrington said: "Most of these boys have been with me since under 11s and half since under 7s.

"Four seasons ago we finished 7th in the league, and since then the team and players development trajectory has been off the scale.

"To win any league unbeaten at any level is something special and receive the accolade 'Invincibles', but to win all 16 league matches particularly in the manner we did speaks volumes for the boys attitude and hard work.

"Scoring 68 and conceding 10 in a league with teams such as Chippenham, Calne, Melksham and some strong Swindon teams highlights what an achievement its been this season."

The team has had a very successful past three seasons- even with the impact of Covid and the disruption it has caused. In that time the team have lost just four league and cup matches, scoring 255 goals whilst conceding just 44.

Despite their success Tony says the team are not resting on their laurels.

"We are going to return to the JPL (Junior Football League) this coming season as well as continue to play in the North Wilts on Sundays.

"To do so we are going to have to increase our squad, so as to rotate and rest players.

"We are looking for another four or five players. If there is anyone who feels that they can or has played at this level, they can contact me.

"We have some of the best facilities in southern England and there is no better place to develop as a footballer than here at the Corinium."
