SWINDON Town are facing the possibility of a transfer embargo being put in place if the EFL finds evidence that current owner Lee Power has not paid players and staff.

This has come following reports that Town players and staff did not receive their wages for the month of June.

Pre-season has also been pushed back until next Monday, and there have been no announcements made regarding season tickets.

Under section 53.1 of the EFL's rules and regulations regarding non-payment to players, they state: "If following written notification from the Professional Footballers' Association, a Club is found to be in default of any payment due in accordance with a Player's contract or payment in consequence of termination of such contract, The League may place an embargo on any transfer of any registration by such Club until the payment is made."

Clubs ordinarily in default of payment are subject to an embargo under EFL guidelines.

The EFL notes that they recognise cases where payments may well be in dispute but expect the matter to be referred to a Player Related Dispute Commission.
