Forest Green Rovers defender Liam Kitching has completed his move to Championship side Barnsley.
The 21-year-old’s move to Oakwell breaks Forest Green's record for a transfer fee received.
The exact fee has not been disclosed but is believed to be in the region of £600,000.
Kitching leaves the New Lawn having made 53 appearances in all competitions for the club.
He joined Forest Green from Leeds United in July 2019 and remained ever present for Mark Cooper’s side during his inaugural season.
Kitching had been left out of the squad in recent weeks, while his move to Barnsley was finalised.
Rich Hughes, director of football at Forest Green Rovers commented: “We have been delighted with Liam’s progression since he has been at the club, and the fact that we have been able to conclude this deal with Barnsley is testament to his development at FGR.
“When Kitch joined the club, Mark and the coaching staff have worked tirelessly to improve him and we are looking forward to seeing him excel at Barnsley.”
