THE ladies’ section at Cirencester Golf Club kept the competitive ball rolling when they contested a 14-hole Christmas Bowmaker with the team of Jill Cloughton, Sheila Marsh & Mary Dobson emerging victorious with a score 63 points.
Second place was closely contended with three teams all finishing on 59 points.
Well done to Angela Woodward, Jayne Worthington & Sarah Taylor, as well as Liz Allen, Jane Brodrick & Brenda Taylor, along with Irena Windslow, Kate Dymoke and Fiona Fyfe.
It was a lovely sunny day with little wind, so perfect for winter golf.
The course was brightened up with a scattering of Christmas hats and a special mention goes to Jane Muncer who was cheerfully decked out in red from head to toe.
Jane Brodrick secured a brace of birdies on the 2nd and 13th holes, while Jayne Worthington also had a birdie on 13.
The ladies all enjoyed a lovely warming cup of sweet potato and butternut squash soup at the halfway house, along with a seasonal mince pie, to keep them going for the last three holes.
There were no other competitions for the ladies, however what was intended to be a 'casual' game between Tony and Elaine Killick turned into a battle of the captains as lady captain Elaine was joined by club captain Steve Bishop to take on seniors' captain Andy Ponting, who partnered Tony.
By all accounts an entertaining afternoon was had by all, with Steve and Elaine winning by one hole.
