Town fans were welcomed back to the County Ground for the first time since March with a 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood that sees the side drop into the bottom four.

A first-half goal from Paddy Madden from a Fleetwood corner was enough to seal the win for Fleetwood who withstood a late flurry of chances from Town.

But despite an improved second half, a poor first half attacking display from Town means it’s back-to-back defeats for a club that has just fallen into the relegation zone on goal difference.

The first 10 minutes passed with little incident.

A quick Town break-away saw Tyler Smith in the box. He squared to Hope whose shot was saved by Leutwiler in the Fleetwood goal.

But just before a second shot could come in the referee blew for offside.

Fleetwood had a quiet first 10 with the only incident of note coming from a penalty shout that probably should have been given.

Joshua Morris ran into the town box but was sandwiched between Grant and Conroy and Town saw the ball out for a throw-in.

Penalty shouts were waved away by the referee but probably should have been given.

Hitting the 20 minute mark and Town had even more chances but still no goal.

Jaiyesimi and Jack Payne linked up just outside the Fleetwood box but the final ball is cut out by a defender and safely picked up by the keeper.

Before further play from town resulted in Hope whipping in a ball but Payne’s flick-on header was seen safely over Leutwiler’s net

Good skill saw Fleetwood's McKay to get round Odimayo on the far side but his cross missed everyone and went out for a Swindon goal kick.

A few moments later Morris had another chance at the Swindon goal but it skipped past Kovar’s right hand post.

The opening goal came on the half-hour mark after back-to-back corners for Fleetwood eventually paid off.

Paddy Madden broke free of Anthony Grant’s marking and ran to the near post to meet the corner. A nice flick sees the ball slide into the near post.

Town on were kept on the back foot for the remainder of the first half with Fleetwood continuously coming at the Town goal but the defence is held.

Town need to look for inspiration from somewhere - can't see where it's going to come from at the moment though

Jayesimi did have some good skill to get the ball through to Hope who cut back inside but saw his shot block blocked.

As Fleetwood tried to get the ball away Hope swept the legs of captain Coutts and received a booking for his efforts.

The match seemingly returned to the first 10 minutes with nothing much coming from it.

One free-kick was floated in by Matt Smith and Baudry rose to meet it but is clattered by the Fleetwood keeper Leutwiler but a free-kick is given to Fleetwood.

The start of the second half saw a couple of early chances for Town.

Matt Smith won the ball in the Fleetwood box in front of the Town end.

His shot was deflected and the keeper has to tip it over the bar for a corner to Town

A couple of corners later and Payne had the ball at the edge of the box, passed to Grant who chipped it in but it flew over everyone’s head and out for a Fleetwood goal kick.

Fleetwood started to press their advantage with a couple of corners into the Town box but both were cleared.

Fans back in the stadium means that there are plenty of jeers for the referee when he fails to notice a foul on Payne on the halfway line or hurry up the Fleetwood corner. Chants of ‘don’t know what you’re doing’ ring out across the ground for the first time in nine months.

A scrappy 30 minutes in the second half saw a couple more chances for town but the big one comes on the 78th minute.

Jack Payne runs into the box and shoots, keeper pushes it away but only into the six yard box. It's cleared against a Fleetwood player and goes out for a corner.

Corner comes in and Grant gets a free header. Keeper doesn't hold onto it and it goes out for a second Town corner which comes to nothing.

Town came again and Hope went down under pressure in the Fleetwood box but no penalty was given. More chants of ‘don’t know what you’re doing’ rained down from the stands.

There was one last chance for Town as Duffy brought down Baudry just outside the box. Free-kick went into box and Leutwiler collided with his defender. The ball was cleared out to Jaiyesimi whose shot curls past the far post.

Despite the second half seeing an improvement from Town. Fleetwood parked the bus and successfully saw out their 1-0 win.
