ANDY STOCKS maintained his excellent post-lockdown form by running away with the Douggie Rolles Cup by three clear shots.

Normally this major competition feeds into a knockout for the top 16 qualifiers but owing to the restrictions in 2020, it was played as a one-off stableford.

The highlight of the 15-handicapper’s winning round of 44 points was his birdie on the 17th to complete a tidy card that also included 10 pars.

It earned him a two-shot cut to 13.

“On 17, I went 5 iron, 5 iron, wedge and putt,” said Andy. “I normally hate that hole, too.

“I just had one of those freak rounds that doesn’t happen very often.”

Andy is being too modest, as he shares the best round in the daily roll-up competitions since the restart with 47 points.

Four birdies from Mark Jameson helped him earn the runner-up slot with 41 points on countback from Callum Fleet and Steve Hooper
