Old Cryptians RFC 46

Cirencester 0

DEPLETED Cirencester failed to match runaway league leaders Old Cryptians RFC.

The tone of the game was set early with Old Cryptians scoring their first try in the opening five minutes.

Ciren were being beaten in the contact area with the Cryptians’ players attacking the breakdown with great commitment a vigour, meaning Ciren got turned over or the ball was slowed up.

The home side went on to score three more tries in the first-half, securing the bonus point.

Ciren showed great spirit after the break, but the weight of the possession Cryptians were enjoying allowed them to continue to score further tries.

When Ciren did have the ball, they were unable to penetrate a well marshalled home defence. As the final whistle blew you could see the delight of the home side. The recent good form from the Cotswold club was not enough to gain any points, but special mention must go to Ciren back-row forward Joe Chambers who covered every blade of grass and tackled himself to a standstill.
