Cirencester Town 6

Willand Rovers 0

TOMMY ANDERSON celebrated his 100th game for Cirencester Town with a goal as John Brough’s play-off chasing side hit Willand Rovers for six, writes Dave Pyzer.

After a delayed kick-off, due to the Willand coach breaking down, Cirencester started quickly and grabbed a two-goal lead within 16 minutes as John Dennis scored with a back-post header and confident finish.

Within 3 minutes after the restart, Dennis was upended by keeper Mike Searle and Mike Pook converted the spot-kick. Ten minutes later Jack Freeman picked out Ross Gabriel who planted a header home. Cirencester were dominating play, but despite this there were glimpses of Willand’s potential as they moved the ball around the pitch searching for an opening, but Cirencester were in determined mood and straight from a Willand attack they countered quickly for Levi Irving to slip the ball to Lewis Thompson, who drove it inside the left post.

A couple of minutes later a miss-placed pass from Louis Morison was cut out by Anderson and as he charged forward the culprit committed a rash, high challenge that saw him receive a red card. As the game was ending, Anderson, making his 100th appearance for the club, completed the scoring when he was released into the right channel of the box to finish inside the right post.
