Brimscombe & Thrupp 1
Reading City 1
IMPROVING Brimscombe were held to a draw by Reading City, writes Scott Boulton.
Earlier, the Lilywhites started brightly. However, boss Sam Prior was forced into an early change with Edd Major hobbling off with a hamstring injury to be replaced by Ollie Pitt.
On the cusp of the break a torpedo throw-in from James Campbell allowed Jack Smith to give Brimscombe the lead.
Reading started the second period in positive fashion, but Brimscombe responded with Campbell planting a volley wide.
However, City netted parity through Palmer who slotted beyond Ash Gale. Brimscombe rallied and had two great chances in quick succession, Campbell hit his shot over before Johan Flo forced the City keeper into a superb save to his right. Karl Nash came on in the dying moments, but the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
