Cirencester Town 3
Basingstoke Town 2
REJUVENATED Cirencester are closing in on the play-offs as they posted their fifth win on the spin in dramatic fashion against Basingstoke Town, writes Dave Pyzer.
Cirencester were stung early on as Bradley Wilson and Claudio Herbert made it 2-0 at the break.
However, Cirencester pulled a goal back six minutes after the interval when Levi Irving finished smartly.
As the pressure increased on the visitors defence, Cirencester won a couple of corner kicks in succession – the second of which led to a debut goal for a determined Josh Nelmes, who forced his way through to head home from close range.
A few minutes later Cirencester took the lead as Irving chased a long ball to the right corner before cutting into the penalty area to score inside the near post.
As the game was drawing to a close Basingstoke created a couple of chances, but Cirencester were in no mood to give up their lead
