YOUNG adult football enthusiasts based in Gloucestershire and Bristol are being offered a chance to spearhead an exciting and worthwhile project, writes Simon Parkinson.

Gloucestershire FA (GFA) is inviting people aged between 18 and 25 to apply to become part of a re-launched and renamed GFA Ambassador Programme, formerly known as GFA Youth Council, which is to comprise eight to ten individuals prepared to meet, discuss, plan and deliver a series of intriguing objectives.

Lead coordinator of the initiative, Jack Stanbury, explained: “Those chosen to take part will be required to deliver a UEFA Euro 2020 event within the county to encourage participation in football, as well as supporting the delivery of two youth football festivals and collecting invaluable feedback from the participants.

“They will then be asked to utilise that feedback to make changes to how football is shaped and delivered across Bristol and Gloucestershire, while we’re also looking for our participants to inspire and make it easier for young people to engage with football in a playing, refereeing, coaching or volunteering capacity.

“We want those involved in these tasks to increase the exposure and perception of Gloucestershire FA amongst young people and the wider football network.”

The group will meet a minimum of four times across the football season at locations which suit the recruited ambassadors, who will also be expected to attend two out of three specified events.

Jack emphasised: “Becoming part of the GFA Ambassador Programme will provide individuals with experience that can enhance their CV and help them to apply for universities and jobs, as well as opening doors for a career within the FA or wider football network.

“On top of this, GFA ambassadors will have access to packages such as a Nike-branded kit, subsidised training courses, travel expenses, access to England and FA Cup final tickets, opportunities to sit on the FA National Youth Council and visit Wembley Stadium.

“On top of this there will be a chance to attend the FA Leadership Academy at the FA’s national football centre at St George’s Park.”

Those wishing to apply for roles, which include a chair, lead project officers and ambassadors, should do so online before Friday, November 22 by using the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/GFAAmbassadors

Applicants need only apply once and if unsuccessful in their attempts to secure chair or project officer roles, they will be automatically considered for ambassador positions.
