Even by the standards set so far this season, last week’s Seniors’ whitewash by the Defence Academy marked a new low point, writes Chris Huckle.
The only pairing to get close to success was the final 4-ball in which the Paul Taylor/Phil Stansfield combination contrived to lose the 18th hole to a 20 feet putt which gave the Defence Academy a 1-up victory and clinched the 6-0 scoreline.
Coronation Medal
Meanwhile, the Ladies Section enjoyed great individual success last week as Lesley McCabe, playing off a handicap of 35 won the Division 2 Final of the Coronation Medal in the sweltering weekend temperatures at Ogbourne Downs. Lesley will be presented with the Medal and a cash prize, from Wiltshire Golf later in the year.
