WHISPER it quietly but Fairford Town are on a roll.

Jody Bevan’s side cantered to a 7-1 victory over New College Swindon in the Hellenic League Cup - their fourth straight victory of the early season. Leading 6-1 at the break, Town stepped off the gas during the second period.

A Jon Thomas double put the hosts 2-0 up after just 11 minutes. Connor Thompson made it 3-0 after 18 minutes, before Joe Thomas added a fourth on 22 minutes. The goal rush continued as two goals in five minutes from Dan Bailey put Fairford 6-0 up before New College responded.

Bailey scoring his third just 90 seconds after the restart.

Fairford face a big week with a trip to Brimscombe on Tuesday and a home FA Cup tie against Hanwell on Saturday, but Bevan is relishing the challenge.

Bevan said: "I was pleased to have the game wrapped up by half-time. Second-half we coasted through in second-gear when we could have possibly been a bit more ruthless and hungry to score more goals. "It was good to get minutes into several players that needed it. Overall, I'm very pleased to come through the game without any further injuries. We now have a big week ahead of us with the league game against Brimscombe followed by the FA Cup game against Hanwell on Saturday."
