FA Cup extra preliminary round

Longlevens 3

Malmesbury Victoria 0

MALMESBURY’S FA Cup dreams started and ended at Hellenic Premier Division outfit Longlevens.

Earlier, the Vics went into their first FA Cup game full of confidence following their 13-0 league win over New College Swindon last time out.

However, Longlevens took lead in the third minute when Will Emery was the first to act when the ball rebounded off the bar.

Krystian Hext went close with a shot from the halfway line that went inches over the bar, with the home keeper beaten.

The second half opened with the Vics pegging-back their hosts for long periods.

The normally dependable Matty Jenkins should have done better when a chance came his way, but he failed to hit the target. Malmesbury had a penalty appeal in the 82nd minute turned down with a free-kick awarded instead on the edge of the box. However, the resultant free-kick rebounded off the defensive wall, Levens broke quickly to the other end where Harry Emmett stroked the ball home. Five minutes later a defensive mix-up allowed Brad Martin to run through unchallenged to round-off the scoring.

Vics are back in league action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Hardwicke Playing Field to face a much improved Tytherington Rocks side, and Saturday brings another away game when the they travel to Premier side Bishop’s Cleeve in Bluefin Challenge Cup.
