Top Gloucestershire rider Tom McEwen is all set to compete at the Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing, Gatcombe Park
McEwen, who is based at Gatcombe Park, will be competing at the Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing which takes place from Friday 2 - Sunday 4 August 2019. Tom has entered no less than seven horses at The Festival, in four different classes.
The World Equestrian Games Team Gold Medal winner will be competing Figaro Van Het Broekxhof, a 17.2hh gelding in the Magic Millions British Open CCI4*-S Championship. Tom will also contest the Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse qualifying class with three horses; Shannondale Aero, MHS Pop Star and Brookfield Braveheart.
Tom will be hoping to defend his Smith & Williamson British Intermediate Championship title aboard one of two rides, Braveheart B, a 16.1hh gelding and Dreamaway II, a grey, 16.1hh gelding.
To conclude Tom’s list of rides, he will be competing Dream Big, a 16.1hh mare owned by Magdalena Gut in the RoR/NTF Retrained Racehorse Event Championship.
The Festival takes place over three days in the quintessential Cotswold’s setting of Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire, home of HRH The Princess Royal. This year, the event will host no less than five British Championships; the Magic Millions British Open Championship CCI4*-S, the Smith & Williamson British Intermediate Championship, the Dodson & Horrell British Novice Championship, the TopSpec Challenge for the Corinthian Cup and The RoR/NTF Retrained Racehorse Event Championship. Riders in these classes will all be vying for the chance to lift the converted trophies.
Event Director Peter Phillips commented on this year’s impressive list of riders heading to The Festival, “We are delighted that so many of the country’s top riders will be heading to Gatcombe Park to compete in the five British Championships, making The Festival a true showcase of the sport. I am excited to welcome back many familiar faces as well as some new ones and would like to wish all competitors good luck.”
Show-stopping arena attractions will also keep audiences entertained. The main arena hosts a number of family favourites including; the greatly anticipated, Shetland Pony Grand National and the Pony Club Mounted Games which always thrill the crowds. The Ye Olde Redtail Falconry Display also returns to The Festival and ‘have a go’ dog agility, meaning there is something for every member of the family.
The main arena will also see The Pony Club celebrate its 90th Birthday with an impressive parade of members both past and present.
Beyond the main arena, The Festival Food Walk offers delights from around the world as well as local treats for you to enjoy. The avenues of quality shops and unique and bespoke gifts in the Rural Craft marque means there is ample opportunity for some retail therapy during your visit.
