Following their success at the England Hockey Championships, Cirencester under-14 girls hockey team are set to take on Europe's elite.

After the side's stellar performances saw them confirmed as one of the top 10 sides in the country, the girls and their merry band of followers are now heading to Europe for an even greater challenge.

Antwerp in Belgium is hosting the 2019 European Hockey Finals and Cirencester will be taking on the best the continent has to offer, starting with Dragons Hockey Club in Braschaat, on to the Royal Herakles Hockey Club and then Royal Antwerp Hockey Club.

This will be the first time a Cirencester junior side has ever played in Europe and to mark the occasion, a special tour kit was commissioned, meaning a distinct change from the traditional green.

Coaches Dom Salmon and Justin Poole are relishing the upcoming challenge stating: β€œIt will be fitting to see the girls playing elite European Hockey, if they play to their full potential they are more than a match for any team in Europe.”
