Joe Hughes has had to withdraw from his fight with Lewis Ritson due to injury.

The boxer, from Malmesbury was due to fight Ritson on Friday but a back injury has forced him to pull out of the bout.

Hughes, who lost his European title to Robbie Davies Jr back in March, was set to battle Ritson for the WBA Continental Super-Lightweight Championship in Liverpool.

He was due to be on the undercard of Liverpool's Anthony Fowler and Brian Rose's fight which is live on Sky Sports on Friday night.

Hughes is gutted to be forced out of the fight and is hoping it can be rearranged in the near future.

He tweeted: "Just to confirm I have had to pull out of my fight against @lewis_ritson this Friday due to a back injury, extremely disappointing for me.

"Big apologies to Lewis, @MatchroomBoxing and everyone that was looking forward to the fight, hopefully it can be made again for the future."
