North Cotswold Tri and Run stars Lisa Cartlidge and Pippa Brown headed north to compete in their first Ironman distance event at Ironman UK in Bolton snd returned with outstanding results.

They tackled a 2.4 mile swim in Pennington Flash, over 9000ft of climbing on the 112 mile bike and finishing with a marathon with nearly 1000ft.

Brown was first over the line at 14:46:49 and Cartlidge 15:49:02.

The new revised course is the toughest bike course in the UK and third in the world.

Meanwhile, Steve Edwards was out for Marathon number 876 - Saturn Chamber of Runs, Reading in 3:27:59 for second place.

Eight testing trail laps near the Thames, was all going to plan until 23 miles as he struggled on the last lap losing a couple of minutes.

Fortunately, he had some time in the bank to secure a 786th sub 3:30.

Marianne Day and Kelly Read completed the Maverick Race Series Peak District Event, starting in Hope Valley.

Day ran the middle distance finishing in 04:06 and Read the Ultra crossing the line in 07:20.

It was a great weekend for North Cotswold Juniors as Jasper Williams won his age category at Cheltenham's Tri in the Park on Saturday.

There were 15 other juniors taking part.

Phoebe Miller was 14th girl in Tri Star One with Thomas Cassidy (4th), Jan Winkowski (10th), William Chalmers (15th), Ollie Tindal Robertson (21st), Harry Finley (22nd) & Bertie Walmsley (30th) who represented the boys in the same age category.

Sean Hyland (4th), Noah Williams (7th) and Will Cartlidge (20th) were North Cotswold's Tri Star 2 boys and Lilly Anna Walmsley (8th) and Lily Pepper (13th) competed Tri Star 2 for the girls.

Three girls took part in the Tri Star 3 race, Lucy Hyland in her first triathlon gave everything to get on the podium in third place, Izzy Dennett (5th) and Sophie Finley (6th) finished the day for the juniors.

Two adult members also competed at Cheltenham Tri in the Park in the sprint distance triathlon around Pittville Park. Terry Cassidy was fifth man home and Helen Holden in only her second triathlon was 16th lady.

Elsewhere, Laura Williams and Helen Parry raced at the Greystones Swan Lake 10k in Bourton-on-the-Water on Sunday, a reasonably flat cross country route around Greystones Nature Reserve.

Laura finished third lady in 50.26 and Helen achieved an impressive time of 1.07.40 in her first 10k for 24th lady.

Kate Krzywiec ran the Bourton 1 Mile - Krzywiec was fourth lady, 1st V40 and gold county medal in 5.44.

Her two daughters Chloe and Pippa ran 7.17 and 7.47, Chloe was first girl and Pippa third in the fun run.

Mike Hobbs also ran, and recorded his second fastest mile of 5.05 and also a gold medal for the county vet 45-49 category.

Roger Day raced the Draycote Waters 10k, putting in a fantastic performance, finishing in 53:59.
