Hill & Valley Tennis Club are opening their doors for a free event of tennis this month.

The club, who are based in Chedworth will be hosting their Nature Valley Big Tennis weekend on Sunday, July 21.

It is open to both member and non members and provides an opportunity for both children and adults to play on the newly refurbished courts, designed in Wimbledon colours.

All equipment will be provided on the day and the coaching team will be on hand to offer any helpful tips and advice.

In addition, Andy Catchpole from HEAD UK will give a demo on tennis rackets and other equipment that you can try out.

The Larry the Lobster tennis ball machine will also be in use on the day.

As well as a feast of events there’ll be a pizza horse box, a pop-up bar run by the Seven Tuns and teas in the Village Hall.

The club are also offering a 20 per cent discount on all new memberships taken out on the day.

The event will run from 12pm to 6pm.

Details of events during the day are as follows:

Court 1

Tennis for Kids 12:00-12:30 and 13:00-13:30

2 x 30 minute sessions run by coach Vince Freeman for children under 12 years old at 12:00 and 13:00

Quick Fix Clinics 14:00-15:00

Ten minute clinics with coach Vince Freeman for anyone wishing to sign up - maximum two people per session.

Frying Pan Challenge (Beat the Coach). 17:00-18:00 (£5 entry all proceeds to charity)

Court 2

Head UK Racket Demonstration and advice featuring ‘Larry the Lobster’ ball machine 12:00-15:00

Head UK racket range demo with advice on grip size, weighting, and equipment choices.

Free play 15:00-18:00

Off court events:

Garden games on the playing fields 12:00-15:00 – bring a picnic!

Hill and Valley Treasure Hunt 12:00-18:00

Family Sports Championships 16:00-18:00

Teams of two, for challenges including: Egg and tennis racket race, pin the ball on the tennis star and slam dunk competitions!

Facilities

The Village Hall and toilets will be open from 12.00-18:00. There will be tennis for kids inside the hall if the weather is changeable. The event is weather dependent, but will only be cancelled if the forecast very poor.

Refreshments

Tea, coffee and cakes will be on sale in the Village Hall to raise funds for Chedworth pre-school.

Pizza Horse Box 15:00-18:00

Beautiful oven baked pizzas available from 15:00-18:00 - £7-£9 for a 12 inch pizza

Drinks

The local Seven Tuns pub will provide a ‘pop-up’ bar’ with a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for sale

Family membership and coaching courses sign up

There will be someone available all day so that new members to sign up at a 20 per cent discount.
