Fairford & Lechlade Youth Football club under-13 team completed an historic double by winning the North Wilts Youth Football League Division 1 title and also the league cup - The first time that the a team at the club have achieved such a feat.

The team completed a league and cup double by winning the cup final 2-0 against league runners-up Bishop Cannings at Swindon Town's County Ground.

Coach Tony Warrington said: " This is the best team to have come through the club in my sixteen years here.

2From the end of September through to mid-March, the team won every league and cup match they played. The second goal in the cup final meant they had scored precisely 100 goals this season, whilst only conceding 15 in all league and cup competitions they played in.

"However, it could have been even better as the boys were a penalty away from making it a treble by winning the Gloucestershire County Cup. Last season we were beaten in the semi-final on penalties by a team from Bristol, and the same happened this season. A game we should have won went to penalties and again didn't go our way. Our opponents then went on to win the county cup final."

The team have decided to changer their name to Cirencester Town U14s next season and are actively looking to add to the squad. Any players that that are interested in joining can contact the club secretary- Scott Griffin on 01285 654543.

Squad: Ted Andrews, Gabe Birch, Wil Lloyd, Joe Warrington, Harrison Hemmings, Jimmy Hewlett, Dan Howard, William Merrett, Ethan Nicolaas, Ollie Potter, Jay Wilkins, Luke Carroll.
