KARTING

Louis Harvey stood on the podium twice in round seven and eight of the Rissington Kart Club Championships.

Harvey, from Malmesbury, Secured a third place finish in round seven and went on to win round eight to maintain a firm hold on the Rissington Kart Club Championship and showing dominance on the Klaassen Motorsport ARC chassis this season.

On the back of being fastest in practise and timed qualifying, Harvey was looking strong for rounds seven and eight.

However heat one dampened his spirits when the second place driver misjudge the first corner taking Harvey and Kilmister off the track causing them to finish in the last two positions.

Undeterred Harvey was dominant in heat two and after leading for the majority of the race took the chequered flag for the win.

As the drivers waited for their first final of the day the rain came down wetting the track which had started to dry just before the start.

Harvey took a gamble on the set up and went for new wets as it looked likely to rain during the race.

This turned out to be a bad decision and a set up that cost him the win.

By lap two Harvey was into the lead and starting to pull out a good gap, but as the track dried Harvey was battling the set up and by lap six had dropped to second and on the final lap was pushed down to third.

Final two and a dry track Harvey was determined to make up for Final one and by lap two was into the lead.

This position he maintained until the chequered flag crossing the line with a convincing four and a half second gap over second place Kilmister.

Harvey’s next race will be at Fulbeck for the next rounds of the Motorsport UK British Karting Championship on Saturday, June 22 until Sunday, June 23.
