West Country Hilly Ultra 50 miles Minehead Trail

Run of the week was from Rob Brown who completed 50 miles in 9 hours 02 minutes.

Rob led for the first 20 miles of the West Country Hilly Ultra but perhaps should have saved slightly more in the tank for the two leg sapping climbs over Dunkery Beacon and back along the coastal path between Bossington and Minehead.

A wrong turn and a total 8309ft of ascent took their toll and Rob was passed by three others before managing to pull one back to finish in an impressive third place.

Ian Barrett led a small but quality team through the first triathlon of the season to finish 5th in his Mvet age group and, strong in all three disciplines, he was only 4 minutes behind the leader. Sophie Chudley, still missing an Australian climate struggled in the cold despite the spring sunshine. With a faster swim and very similar bike section, Steve Derrick’s slower run brought him in only a minute behind. Kate Sackett knocked 4 minutes from her previous time but had to be content with second in her (WsupVet) age group.
