A Tennis club has paid tribute to a former committee member by painting their courts purple.
Hill & Valley Lawn Tennis Club’s have resurfaced courts in Chedworth in memory of Allison Stock, a committee member who died last autumn.
Among her achievements was the efficient running of the annual Coln Valley Mixed Doubles tournament which this summer will be dedicated to her memory.
Speaking on behalf of the club’s committee, Rosemary Scott-Smith, tournament co-ordinator said: “Allison was an accomplished player and a passionate follower of the game, and it was well known that her favourite colours were Wimbledon purple and green. There was no better tribute we felt we could pay to all she did for the tennis club than to choose the colours she wanted for our new courts. It has certainly raised our spirits to have made it happen”.
Hill & Valley has two ladies teams and one men’s team playing in the Dunlop Gloucestershire Summer League and are welcoming competitors for their annual Coln Valley Mixed Doubles tournament on Saturday, June 8.
To discuss joining Hill & Valley LTC contact Fred Shaftoe, membership secretary on 01285 720074 or to enter the tournament call Simon Colbeck on 01285 720146.
