Stroud Trails

Cirencester was well represented over the four races making up the Stroud Trails event.

Tim Ingham and Rupert Chesmore both ran the new 40 (+) ultra route which adds a further 1,500’ ascent around Frampton Mansell and The Daneway to an already demanding route.

Tim finished in 8.40 with Rupert some 50 minutes later as first V60.

For his first, Lee Lawrence could hardly have chosen a harder ‘marathon’ making his 20th place very respectable.

His time of 4 hours 49 after climbing over 3,000’ and covering 27.6 miles (making it, technically, also an ultra) should provide a great boost to confidence.

So too for Jo Roberts and Liza Darroch who followed after taking time to appreciate the joys of this very beautiful route on what was perfect spring day.

Jo was second in her age group and Liza first in hers.

With a later start Barbara Thomas ran the second loop of the course to complete over 14 miles , described as a ‘½ Marathon’, in just over three hours, slightly faster than last year.

Finally Nick Wall took a last minute entry to run the ‘Quarter marathon’ finishing the 6.6 miles in 1.07 in a pleasing 14th place.

Tewkesbury ½ Marathon, 13.1 miles road

Finally, in absence of full results we can, as yet, only report that James Widdowson ran another marathon plus in the Brecon and Louise Abbott ran the Beast Bach near Preseli.
