Newport Marathon, S Wales, 26.2 miles road

After winning a 40 mile Trail Ultra earlier in the year Neil Corbiere took on the very different challenge of a road marathon.

For much of the flat Newport course he was heading for that coveted and hard to earn sub three hour time but slipped towards the end to finish in three hours two minutes and 53 seconds taking at least seven minutes from a previous PB.

Nicola Denning chose sunny Newport for her debut into marathon running and like Neil, and so many more, found that the last few miles can prove exceedingly tough giving her a chip finishing time of three hours 55 minutes and 48 seconds.

1 Chris Bird (Chichester Runners & AC) 2.31.34 (chip 2.31.34)

108 Neil Corbiere (Cirencester AC) 3.02.53 (3.02.45)

813 Nicola Denning 3.57.30 (3.55.48)

2047 finished.
