Purton 5

Ludgershall 1

Purton cruised to a comprehensive win over Ludgershall Sports on Saturday.

In Purton’s penultimate game of the season on Saturday, Ludgershall were the visitors to The Redhouse, as Purton looked to finish the season strongly.

Purton were dominant team from the first whistle, playing some great football. The deadlock was broken when Will Backhouse broke in to the Ludgershall box, passed the ball to George Drewitt who was fouled, and stood up to convert the penalty for 1-0. Ludgershall did equalise from a corner, in which their striker volleyed superbly into the top corner for 1-1. Within five minutes, Purton regained the lead when a goal mouth scramble found its way to Drewitt who slotted home for his second of the game.

In the second half, Backhouse finished superbly from the edge of the box on 50 minutes to make the score 3-1. Drewitt went on to complete his hat-trick on 70 minutes when he broke free of the Ludgershall back line and slotted superbly past the oncoming goalkeeper for 4-1.

He was then replaced by Jack Duckers who managed to get on to the end of a Joe Skudlarz cross to tap in and score Purton's fifth.
