Purton............ 6

Devizes.......... 1

Purton hammered Devizes Town Reserves on Saturday to boost their hopes of a top four finish.

With a depleted squad due to a squad member's wedding and numerous players attending, Purton named lined up with numerous changes but still produced a brilliant performance.

Purton were dominant throughout, but missed a number of chances through the first half.

It was top scorer Will Backhouse who broke the deadlock on 30 minutes to give Purton the lead to take in to the break.

The half time message was simple, continue the dominance but there was a necessity to be more clinical and that's exactly what Purton were in the second period.

Purton were ruthless and added a further five goals.

Top Scorer Will Backhouse scored again to take his tally for the season to 20 goals.

Chris Avery got on the end of a Steve Keir corner to make it 3-0.

Keir then turned scorer himself, converting directly from a corner while Daren Regis added two more, with Devizes only managing the single reply.

Purton travel to fourth place Shrewton United for their next game on Saturday.
