Purton 6

Pewsey Vale Dev. 0

Purton got back to winning ways with an emphatic win over Pewsey Vale Development on Saturday.

It was a much improved performance from Purton on Saturday from last week's 2-2 draw with Football ID.

Purton Manager Liam Lewis demanded a reaction from the team following a below par performance the previous week, and that was what he got as Purton were dominant from start to finish.

Joe Dorey got things going on 15 minutes as his shot took a small deflection on the way and found itself in the back of the Pewsey net for 1-0.

Shortly after that Nathan Marland converted a superbly worked team goal to take the score to 2-0.

Will Backhouse and Daren Regis then both got in on the action to make the score 4-0 to Purton at half time.

The half time message was simple - maintain discipline and put out a professional performance. That was exactly what happened in the second half as Pewsey improved slightly with the help of the wind. However additional goals from Will Backhouse and Jack Duckers took the final score to 6-0 and a comfortable win for Purton.

Malmesbury Victoria Development are the visitors next weekend as Purton look to extend their unbeaten run to eight games, in the build up to a huge cup game on March 30 away to Wroughton.

Purton are sixth in the Wiltshire Senior League with 38 points from 22 games.

They're just three points behind fourth place Corsham Town Reserves.
