Devizes Town Res. 1 Malmesbury Victoria Dev. 4

Malmesbury Victoria Development won a crucial bottom of the table clash with a 4-1 victory away at Devizes Town Reserves.

It was second bottom v third bottom and Malmesbury picked up an important win to move them seven points clear of their opponents in the Wiltshire Senior League.

Joe Tranter and Gareth Jones both scored twice for the Vics while James Dunford scored a consolation goal for Devizes, who have picked up just one point at home all season.

Malmesbury are 14th, two points behind Football ID in 13th and with a game in hand.

As for the seniors, they were without a game this weekend.

Malmesbury, who are fifth, have a tricky game against sixth place Kidlington Development on Saturday.

The top two in Hellenic League Division One West - Easington Sports and Cheltenham Saracens - are playing each other so The Vics have the chance to close the gap on the top two.

They are currently six points adrift of leaders Easington (with a game in hand) and five off second place Cheltenham

After the Kidlington game, Malmesbury take on Cheltenham Saracens on Saturday, March 20.

Victoria won their last outing away at Easington.
