Purton 2
Football ID 2
Purton came from two goals down to rescue a point despite missing a penalty against Football ID on Saturday.
The hosts extended their unbeaten run to six games but it was far from a glorious performance from the home team who never really got going in a fixture against a young, organised side.
Purton invited pressure from the start, with a number of misplaced passes.
The start went from bad to worse when Purton captain Steve Keir was forced off with a hamstring injury less than 20minutes in.
Shortly after, a mix up in the Purton defence allowed Football ID to break through and finish past Kuczynski in the Purton goal to make it 1-0 before the break.
The second half didn’t prove to be much better with Football ID once again capitalising on a clumsy turnover of possession and making it 2-0 on 55 minutes.
Purton made attacking changes and started to create a little more, without really getting going to near their full potential.
On 80 minutes, Purton won a penalty, but felt aggrieved as the referee failed to play the advantage which resulted in a goal immediately after.
Will Backhouse then saw his penalty saved to keep the score at 2-0.
Five minutes later, Sam English got on the end of a set piece to pull one back.
Purton then won another penalty in the 92nd minute, which Chris Avery converted to rescue a point and maintain that unbeaten record.
Pewsey Vale Development are the visitors next weekend.
