STRATTON YOUTH U/13S continued their fine form with another attacking performance.

Stratton were in front early on after Zac Zamiri latched onto a loose ball in the opposition penalty area and smashed home.

A second was added soon after as Zamiri went through and squared the ball for Charlie Miller to tap home his first of the day.

The third and best strike of the game came midway into the first half as the ball dropped to Hollie Giles on the edge of the box and a brilliantly struck half volley looped over the keeper into the far corner.

Further first half goals from Miller and Zamiri ensured Stratton went in 5-0 up at the half way mark.

Further second half goals for Miller and Zamiri completed their hat-tricks. George Quli got his second goal of the season after a brief spell up front and Joe Levell added a fine individual goal taking the ball around the keeper to make it 9-0.

Credit to Purton Youth who despite having no subs continued to work hard for each other and they were rewarded with a goal midway through the second half, leaving the final score 9-1.

Stratton face a top of the table clash away vs. Ramsbury Youth next week.

STRATTON YOUTH U/11S hosted Wims 11 on Sunday in a league fixture.

The first half saw Stratton Youth U11s score a great goal with some excellent work from player of the match Jaden Mullins feeding Jack Miller to cross the ball for Sami Zamiri to slot home and give the home side a deserved lead.

James Bassett was magnificent in goal and well shielded by strong defending from Luke Baker, Ben Szczerkowski and Otto Baxter. In the second half Wims U11 scored an early goal and grew in confidence culminating in a very good second half for the visitors.

STRATTON YOUTH U/10 BLUES were unfortunate to exit at the first stage of the cup knockout round. After starting brightly against Shrivenham, they suddenly found themselves a goal down after a defensive mix up and, despite a last ditch attempt to clear by Julian Gurung, the ball just crept over the line.

The Blues continued to have the greater possession but just couldn’t find the final ball to give them a goal scoring opportunity.

In the second quarter, Ben Seakins made some elegant runs and ended up jinking through the defence to score a classy goal.

Almost immediately Shrivenham struck back to retake the lead.

Seakins then went close with a long range effort and Mike Bettington-Walker almost broke through with some powerful attacks.

After a fine dribble Bertie Jarvis was brought down and Toby Stallard struck home the free kick. Shortly after, in an almost exact replica of the previous goal, Jarvis was fouled and Stallard scored. However, Shrivenham managed to win the ball in midfield and, despite the efforts of Vivan Nembang, Shrivenham retook the lead.

Cory Stewart and Evie Stratford were both solid in the tackle and Harry Maloney looked like he might get his first of the season but was denied by a fine tackle as he went to shoot. Ultimately the team couldn’t turn their possession and opportunities into goals and can feel unlucky to lose.

Toby Robinson won player of the match for his courage and bravery in goal in the freezing conditions.

Stratton Youth U/10s also lost in their cup fixture. In a high-quality game honours were even after the first quarter which saw some great play from Idris Thomas-Jones in midfield and Fin Stratford in defence.

Neither side could find a way past the respective goalkeepers with Luke Dawson making a standout save in the Stratton goal from a close range shot.

The U/10s performance in the second quarter dipped and they were caught by the speed in which the opposition moved the ball from defence to attack.

Their direct approach was too much and saw three goals conceded in a short space of time. This was despite a resolute display from Sam Potter who looked composed throughout.

Fin Marshall showed some neat touches while Louis Kingsbury spread the ball cleverly to open up space for Dylan Morse and Jaden Wiltshire to exploit.

The U10s were in control in the third quarter and Louis went close and Ez Allen almost got through on goal on a couple of occasions.

Unfortunately the long kicks from the opposition keeper caught the team out and they found themselves further behind after a four pass move resulted in Luke being given no chance from a powerful shot.

Archie Walker and Arthur Quli worked hard but the team couldn’t get the breakthrough their possession deserved by finding their way past a very decent goalkeeper. Sam Potter was awarded player of the match for an outstanding display both in defence and on the wing.
