January Mixed Stableford

STEVE TITCHENER returned to his best summer form, which saw him having near-misses in the Bathurst Cup and the Senior Team Open Bowmaker, with a sparkling 42 points to win the January Mixed Stableford at Cirencester Golf Club.

On a day of very high scoring, 25 players scored nett par or better.

Thirteen handicapper Steve did the damage with a run of consecutive birdies at the fourth, fifth and sixth holes.

The runner-up, Graham Carter, was presumably using the new Scotty Cameron putter he won in the New Year’s Day raffle at the club.

He finished just one off the lead, pipping Tim Attwood to second on countback.

Denise Powell (40pts) was the leading lady and took fourth overall, ahead of Peter Smith (40) and junior Fergus Hill (40).

Despite the very good scoring only four birdie twos were recorded, all at the 13th, by Paul Dominguez, Dan Gregory, Mark Jameson and Hamish Mason.

KAY FULLERTON, Alison Henshaw and Mary Dobson could only be separated on countback after topping the leaderboard in the weekly 14-hole ladies’ stableford with 26 points.

Kay came out on top on countback thanks to her last six holes.

A strong finish from Irena Windslow – four pars in the last six holes – saw her burst into fourth place.
