Corsham Town Res. 1

Purton slipped to a narrow home defeat at the Redhouse on Saturday after a poor performance against Corsham Town Reserves.

Corsham threatened on a number of occasions during the opening exchanges but were denied by the Purton defence.

Purton did start to get in to the game and created a number of opportunities themselves, with the key chance falling to new signing Josh Bolton who opted to square the ball over slotting home.

Will Backhouse was lively throughout and caused a number of issues for the Corsham defence.

However, it was an unusual mistake from Purton skipper Steve Keir that led to the deadlock being broken as Corsham's attacker nicked the ball and passed back to his team mate to slot home to give the visitors the lead.

Purton made changes at half time with George Drewitt introduced for the first time this season, who did well in organising the Purton midfield.

For all their efforts, Purton couldn’t quite find that equaliser to get them going.

Although it was a bad day at the office, Purton management team will be pleased to see new additions Bolton, Lewis Tidy and Drewitt all make a positive impact and will be hoping to see this benefit the team in the long run.

Next weekend Purton travel to high flying Wroughton.
