Purton.......1

Cricklade.. 1

Two players saw red as Purton and Cricklade shared the spoils in a feisty local derby at the Redhouse on Saturday.

Purton welcomed new signing Josh Bolton in to the squad, as well as the return of Callum Staffell from a lengthy injury - both started on the Purton bench.

Purton started lively, creating a couple of opportunities in the first 15 minutes, but it was Cricklade who had the first big chance as Fraser Little was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area and concede a penalty.

The Cricklade winger stepped up to take the penalty, which was finely stopped by Luke Kuczynski.

Purton started the second half brightly, but the biggest action of the opening exchanges involved a scuffle between Little and Cricklade striker David Coleman who both saw red for there involvement.

In the following exchanges, a mix up in the Purton defence saw Cricklade take the lead and go 1-0 up.

Purton were forced in to changes as leading scorer Jack Duckers came off the bench to rescue a point for the home side with an extremely well taken and composed finish.

All in all it wasn’t the greatest of performances from either side after a long Christmas break, and Purton will be looking for an improved performance next weekend as Corsham Reserves are the visitors.
