Uhlsport Hellenic Chairman's Cup Quarter Final

BOURTON 1 MORETON 0

Bourton Rovers reached the semi-finals of the Chairman's Cup with victory over local rivals Moreton Rangers on Saturday.

Rovers started the game at a good tempo and Bourton's striker Steve Nurse had two half chances which were not converted.

Bourton had man-of-the-match Dan Smith to thank for two goal line clearances in the opening half.

The first half closed with both teams playing some nice football but unable to break each other down.

The second half started with both midfield's trying to get on top and in the 57th minute Rovers were awarded a penalty after some quick footwork by Danny Way who was brought down by Harry Smith.

Connor Teague stepped up and calmly sent the keeper the wrong way to score his first league goal since early October.

The game was then tight for the next twenty minutes and Dan Smith was again on hand to clear off the line to keep the score 1-0.

Rovers created two clear goal scoring opportunities but were wasteful in front of goal.

The final whistle went with Rovers edging Moreton out for the second time this season and advancing into the semi final.

Bourton return to league action on Saturday, January 19 when they travel to Abingdon United Development.

They are currently fifth in Hellenic League Division Two West.
