Hellenic League Chairman's Cup

Bourton Rovers returned to winning ways with victory over Division Two East opponents Virginia Water Development in the Chairman’s Cup.

Rovers welcomed back Chris Mills, Jack Robson, Callum Trott and Connor Teague to the match day squad.

The early exchanges saw Bourton creating two good chances only to be wasted by Keegan Bowes.

Rovers' midfield were on top during the half and played some very attractive football but were unable to play the killer pass due to some good defending by Virginia Water.

Rovers eventually took the lead after 30 minutes when in-form Harry Larner headed the hosts in front.

However, Virginia Water hit back within five minutes after a defensive error was pounced on as the teams went into the break level.

The second half started with Rovers getting a grip of the game and playing at a quicker tempo.

Rovers were rewarded in the 65th minute when Dan Smith calmly finished from ten yards after some excellent build up.

Rovers continued to create half chances but were unable to find the net again. In the closing minutes, Rovers keeper Simon Flower made an excellent save when he was left one on one with Virginia's striker but Rovers got the victory they deserved.

They return to league action this weekend with a trip to Moreton Rangers.
