FAIRFORD Town went down to a narrow away defeat at Lydney Town on Saturday afternoon, writes Chris Tanner.
The only goal of the game came in the first half, with a close range finish from Lewis Thompson following a corner enough to seal the win for the hosts.
Fairford boss Jody Bevan rang the changes in the second half with Charlie Bailey, Tom Cairns and Michael Oakes all stepping off the bench but the Reds were unable to secure a share of the spoils.
Bevan tweeted: "The joys of football management. Absolutely first-class last Saturday, massively below par today. Frustrating is an understatement, but I've got a good bunch and we'll learn from it."
The next encounter for Fairford is Tuesday night when they host Frampton in the GFA Trophy at Cinder Lane (7.45pm).
