Tom Garner rode Winner Massagot to victory on their second race in the U.S.
After finishing a close second on debut, Massagot took to the field in the Noel Laing Handicap on Saturday, October 3.
The horse, which is trained by Richard Valentine, had jumped the last fence in the company of other horses.
However, it pushed clear of All the Way Jose for a clear run to the line.
In the end, Winner Massagot ended 16 lengths ahead of second place.
Irv Naylor’s Osmoz finished in third and Clarcam finished in fourth position.
Mercoeur, the winner in the event one year ago finished in fifth position.
The two and a half mile race is worth $40,000 to the winner.
Winner Massagot ran the Noel Laing distance in 5:27.20, way ahead of its nearest rival.
A handicap winner in England in early September, Winner Massagot had finished second by a half-length in his U.S. debut in a Far Hills.
