CIRENCESTER TOWN boss Charlie Griffin is relishing the chance for his side to strut their stuff on home soil.

Town welcome Chris Todd’s Gloucester City in the first round of the Gloucestershire Senior Cup, tonight (7.45pm).

“Tonight will be only our second home match in 10 games,” revealed Griffin, who saw his side beaten 4-0 at Bideford on Saturday.

Despite the defeat in Devon, Cirencester are just two points off the play-offs with a game in hand.

“We never got to grips at Bideford, and conceding two early goals and our game plan out of the window,” admitted Griffin.

“ I kept the same team from the win over Winchester and in hindsight I should have tweaked it. We moved the ball well at times – Louis Spalding and Tommy Ouldridge – hitting the bar.”

Griffin is expected to make a number of changes against Gloucester and will give former Forest Green Academy keeper Luke Merchant a start in goal.

“We want to win tonight, it’s a good competition,” said Griffin. “ I want to give the lads that haven’t played a game. We managed to reach the final two years ago and lost against Bristol City.”

The winners of Tuesday's tie will play Bristol City Under-23s away in the quarter-finals.

Ciren are without a game this weekend, but will train on Saturday.
