Thornbury 7

New College Swindon 0

Thornbury Town moved up to third in the Hellenic Division One West with an emphatic win over bottom club New College Swindon.

Thorns got off to the perfect start when Jim Brock netted from a free kick after just three minutes.

They doubled their lead five minutes later when Craig Lancastle netted before Luke Franklin scored the third on 13 minutes. Town dominated the game with New College defending in depth and struggling to get out of their own half. Lancastle scored his second 10 minutes before the break.

The second half continued in the same vein and it was no surprise when Town went nap, with Franklin netting his second on 58 minutes before he completed his hat trick in the 69th minute. Asher Budd made it 7-0 a minute later.

The game finished on an unhappy note when Scott McLoud suffered a serious injury seven minutes from time, requiring an ambulance to be called. Thornbury suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat to Stonehouse Town at home in the GFA Challenge Trophy.
