Tytherington Rocks 1
Fairford Town 3
Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup
Charlie Bailey scored a late winner to ensure Fairford Town’s Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup campaign began with a win at Tytherington Rocks as they stretched their unbeaten run to four games writes Chris Tanner.
The visitors made a number of changes to the line-up with manager Jody Bevan giving a number of players an opportunity.
Liam Thomas made his first Fairford start at right-back, whilst there were also starts for Ben Snook, Jamie Reid, Bailey, Tom Cairns and Dave Wanless.
And Wanless marked his debut with a quickfire opener, netting with eight minutes played to put the visitors in front.
Chances came and went and the half-time whistle blew with Fairford still just a goal in front, and they were made to pay when the hosts levelled the game up ten minutes from time.
But youngster Bailey capped a night to remember with a crucial strike three minutes from time.
Former Cheltenham Town youngster Jack Beardsell then sealed the win with a penalty in injury-time to make sure of a safe passage into round two for the Cinder Lane side.
