Cirencester went top of the Wadworth 6X Gloucestershire One Division as they maintained their 100 per cent start against Bredon Star.

Ciren made a fine start with winger Isoa Raione racing in at the corner to score the first try of the game. Ciren then went on to concede multiple penalties to allow Bredon field position five metres out from the home sides line.

The Bredon forwards battered the Ciren line eventually breaching the line to level the match.

Cirencester gained possession and spread the ball across the width of the pitch, then back again with some great handling, enabling Tom Dykes to walk over the try line to score a try straight off.

Another score quickly followed by back-rower Archie Doyle. Ciren were in full flow now with man of the match number eight Matt Berry scoring the bonus point fourth try.

Half time could not come quick enough for Bredon, but they went into the break on a positive, kicking a long-range penalty to make the half time score 29-8.

The second half started in a subdued manner with both sides making elementary errors without stamping any authority on the half, that was until Berry again crashed over splitting the away team defence with a powerful run to the try line, this once again galvanised Ciren into scoring action with five further tries added in the half.

Archie Doyle completed his hattrick, and Zeb Waite the impressive Ciren fullback also cashing in with a try. The game’s final try was scored by Bredon who never gave up all afternoon, scoring the last try was a reward for their efforts. With nine tries scored in the game by Ciren, the Cotswold men were happy with their return but they will also be aware that this was far from a perfect performance and they're still striving for further improvements.

Confidence has been key to Ciren's early season success with prop Sean Beech making a name for himself in the front row, Luke Uzzell settling into the second-row berth, Joe Hammond directing the mid-field, and the energetic Sam Griffiths revelling in the scrum half position.

Cirencester's next league game is against bottom club Brockworth, who have lost all their games, on Saturday, October 20 away from home.
